In light of the new film Trap, we look at this writer/director’s oeuvre. Was he a bright light (The Sixth Sense) that at one point went out (certainly by The Happening), and has that light gone back on as he’s regained full control in his most recent films (Knock at the Cabin, The Visit, et al.)? Is he a genius, overrated, or somehow both? And what hath he wrought via his children’s output (musical in Trap and filmic in The Watchers)?

Mark, Lawrence, Sarahlyn and Al disagree both about Trap and about the overall Shyamalan experience. Join us in revisiting these fun, emotional, and often goofy films.

Watch the interview with M. Night that Mark refers to. Here’s the fake documentary about Night.

What is Pretty Much Pop?

Pretty Much Pop brings together philosophers, artists, comedians, and other smart folks to talk about media and how we consume it: TV, film, music, novels, games, comics, comedy, theater, podcasts, and more. Most of what (other) people like is pretty weird when you think about it, so thinking about it is what we do.
